Erin has been taking large doses of Naproxen (Aleve) for several days now. The new swelling had not subsided so the genetic counselor called in a prescription for Presnidone (steroid). We have learned through Erin that neither medication tastes very good. With the Naproxen, I am able to squirt a little at a time into her mouth. Although she doesn’t like it, she cooperates. Cooperation went right out the door with Presnidone. We finally had some success using a small tube on the end of the syringe and squirting a little in the back but off to the side of her throat. I do know that she didn’t get a full dose because she needed a shower after our messy attempt and I had to change my clothes. The pharamacist said that she wouldn’t sleep on it so we gave it to her this morning. I am not expecting for her to take a nap.
We got her new comfy bed into her room last night. We put on the new sheets and dressed the bed up just to Erin’s liking. When it was all ready for her, everyone piled on top and she said, “Get off! It’s my bed….jeeze.” Alan and I thought for sure this was just what we needed to do to get her to stay in her bed. Well, not exactly. It was 11:00 last night and in addition to carrying her three green blankets and her polar bear, she’s dragging the full size comforter down the stairs. We had no luck with her staying in her bed. Alan volunteered to lay with her until she was asleep. Lo and behold, 2AM rolls around and here she comes climbing up in our bed carrying her three green blankets, polar bear, sippy cup, and the full size comforter. “Help me, Mommy!”…is all I heard in the fog I woke up in. I can only hope I can get one really good night’s sleep this weekend.
