Oh the drama never stops! Erin and I were taking our nightly shower when she slipped and banged her head
on the metal rim in the shower stall. When she fell, she fell like a tree…didn’t bend or twist on the way down. I immediately picked her up and held her close. Alan ran upstairs when he heard the thump. He was the first to see the blood falling down her face. We cleaned her up and saw that she was going to need stitches. She has an inch long gap just above her right eye. Alan whisked her off to the emergency room and for the first time she was taken in immediately. Usually we have had to wait in the waiting room for hours. Alan advised everyone of Erin’s FOP. I am not a doctor so I don’t know the actual terminology but they basically glued the wound closed. They were home by 2AM and we had to watch an episode of Oobi before going to bed. We all slept in this morning and she’s running around as if nothing happened. Although when Alan went to look at the wound this morning Erin promptly told him, “No touch my boo boo Daddy!” Now I am expecting a flare-up in her face within the next few weeks. Her halo helmet is at Children’s Hosptial and she’s going in on Monday to have it fitted. I really need to order the material so we can make her a neoprene custom helmet. Alan says she needs to wear a helmet in the shower. No place is really safe for her. At least it’s not stopping her from doing the things she loves to do….run around and scream.
